MIBR vs Renegades
Both of these teams advance through to The New Champions Stage of IEM Katowice 2019 in somehow dominating fashion. MIBR and Renegades secured their playoffs status with 3-1 scores in The New Legends Stage.
Given the fact that both of these teams advanced with a 3-1 scoreline, we still have a great pattern of their game plan and current form.
Let’s start with the Brazilian roster. MIBR had an awful opening match against Cloud9. They were battered heavily and to be honest they simply did not have enough time to get a hold of that game. Cloud9 ran away with the game, hence why MIBR only won 3 rounds.
After their bad showing in the opening match, MIBR stepped up against ever so dangerous compLexity. North Americans had nothing to beat MIBR with, and they were easily dismantled with a final score, 16-9.
This victory propelled MIBR to win their next best-of-1 match against G2. Even though this G2 is nowhere near the old roster, they still put up a good fight. However, MIBR was in control throughout the entire match and they advanced to the 2-1 bracket with this victory.
Lastly, MIBR was matched against NiP in their advancement match. From my perspective, this was the easiest match for MIBR so far on IEM Katowice 2019. Brazilians stomped NiP on their map pick, Train. However, they fell off for a short period of time, but it was still enough to grab that 2-0 victory and seal their spot in The New Champions Stage.
After hammering everyone on The New Challengers Stage, all of us CSGO bettors were expecting Renegades to be eliminated without a fight. This is not what happened, and Renegades stunned the entire CSGO scene.
In their opening match, Australian roster edged out ENCE on Inferno. However, this match could have gone either way and Renegades was definitely a bit lucky in their opener.
After joining the 1-0 bracket, Renegades was matched against FaZe. Boy did they deliver! They were firing on all cylinders in that match and they simply left FaZe without a chance. Even though the final result did not suggest that Renegades was the better team throughout the entire game.
After climbing the bracket, Renegades only had to win one more game to seal their playoffs status. However, they had Astralis in front of themselves. Even though Aussies pulled of an incredible comeback against the reigning kings, it was not enough to clinch them the series. They only won 11 rounds over the course of two next maps, and they found themselves in a 2-1 bracket.
In their final match, Renegades played against Vitality. Even though we had quite a competitive game in front of ourselves, Vitality simply had no answer for certain Renegades strategies. Even though Renegades lost Dust 2, they still looked really scary on that map. With this victory, Renegades qualified for The New Champions Stage of IEM Katowice 2019.
These two teams faced off on a total of 10 maps. MIBR has a huge lead with 8 victories to their name. On the other hand, Renegades has only won against MIBR 2 times. Another important thing about this bout is that out of last 3 times MIBR and Renegades played against each other, Renegades won twice.
Australians were successful on both Inferno and Train. On the other hand, the majority of MIBR’s victories came on Cache. Inferno is also a go-to map for MIBR against Renegades, and we will discuss this further in the Map Pool section.

MIBR did not play a lot of matches in the last 3 months, so predicting map veto is going to be hard in this one. However, they were always avoiding Nuke and there is no way these changes against Renegades. On the other hand, Australians do not play Overpass, and this is their permaban for sure.
On to the good maps for both of these teams. MIBR always thrived on Inferno, Mirage, and Train. These were always rock-solid maps for the Brazilian roster. However, they have not been so good on Inferno in the last couple of meetings, so they should definitely avoid this map against Renegades
Renegades is stellar on Inferno, and this is definitely their best map. Furthermore, they will get this map into the map pool, and if they do not opt for it, they are crazy. This is their best chance of snatching victory in this best-of-3 series. Furthermore, Cache is another map that fits Renegades playstyle. Lastly, Renegades do not shy away from Train and Mirage either.
MAP VETO PREDICTION
- MIBR remove Nuke
- Renegades remove Overpass
- MIBR pick Train
- Renegades pick Inferno
- MIBR remove Cache
- Renegades remove Dust 2
- Mirage is left as a decider
This is going to be a great best-of-3 series. From my perspective, I am clueless when it comes to the final outcome. However, I believe that we will see all three maps in this one. There are a couple of reasons for that.
Firstly, map pools are so different for both of these teams that we simply can not see anyone taking it in 2 maps.
Secondly, both MIBR and Renegades are in great form, and they will definitely be on top of their game. In conclusion, if both teams do not make a lot of mistakes on their map picks, I can see a decider in this one.
